This documentary investigates violence and human nature through the story of an actress who dedicates her life to humanizing the prison system, the rap duo 509-E formed by Dexter and Afro-X inside Carandiru, and a judge who believes in a more dignified means of resocialization for prisoners. Over a period of seven years, beginning in 2000, the documentary follows the lives of these characters.
